Ruskin Museum Makeover Week

A week of free public displays, events and activities for adults and children to discover the life and legacy of the Ruskin Museum at Meersbrook Hall. No need to book, just turn up (except school groups, please book school visit time via rhian@meersbrookhall.org.uk).

Some of the former rooms of the Museum have been given a makeover to share new insights into the lives and work of its curators, its flourishing Sheffield Ruskin Society, the dynamic educational programme at the Museum, and the role played by Sheffield's industrialists and Master Cutlers.

Saturday 20th October 2pm - 9pm

Displays and creative activities all day, plus:
2-4pm: RUSKIN COLLECTION
Louise Pullen, curator of the Ruskin Collection, shows items from the collection that were displayed at the Ruskin Museum.

7-9pm: OUTDOOR FILM PROJECTION
Images of the Ruskin Museum and contemporary Ruskin poem films will be projected onto the front of the Hall every 15 mins.  Watch from the lawn by the car park.

Soup and hot drinks by Real Junk Food Project from 5.30pm.
The Ruskin poem films were commissioned by Wordlife and Off the Shelf Festival of Words, funded by Arts Council England.

Sunday 21st October 11am - 4pm

Monday 22nd October 9am - 5pm

11.30am - 1.30pm: MEMORIES OF THE RUSKIN MUSEUM

You're welcome to come to the Hall to chat to us and other people who remember it.  Relaxed and informal.  Refreshments provided.

Tuesday 23rd October 9am - 5pm

Wednesday 24th October 9am - 9pm
Displays and creative acivities all day, plus:

7pm - 9pm: RUSKIN MUSEUM AT MEERSBROOK TALKS
Volunteer researchers share some fo their findings from recent research into the Meersbrook Museum, using material held by Museums Sheffield, the Guild of St George, and Sheffield Archives.

Thursday 25th October 9am - 9pm
Displays and creative activities all day, plus:

7pm - 9pm: RUSKIN ART WORKSHOP
Relaxed, social workshop for adults, offering a range of drawing and craft activities.  Led by a professional artist.  All abilities welcome. Materials provided.

Friday 26th October 9am - 5pm
Displays and creative activities all day.
