The author Helen Parker grew up in Sheffield, close to Meersbrook Park. Her working life has been spent in adult and higher education and the voluntary sector. She became a volunteer with the Ruskin in Sheffield project and a Companion of the Guild in 2015. Helen became intrigued by Pilley's extraordinary contribution to the Ruskin Museum when working as a volunteer at Meersbrook Hall.
