Please describe yourself and your areas of interest.

I am an international student currently studying at Brighton College. Prior to that, I was born and raised in Korea, where I attended a local public school and then moved to a British curriculum-based school. I have a variety of academic interests- including physics, economics, and evolutionary psychology- but none are comparable to my love for philosophy. As such, I have been involved in independent research and studies in the field, which I expect to continue in the future. I will be graduating in 2026, after which I will go on to pursue further studies at university and (likely) graduate school. Outside of school, I have a strong interest in debate, for which I have represented both Korea and England on the international stage.

Why did you become a Companion of the Guild?

Last year, I was doing some research on Marxism, during which I came across Robert Owen as one of Engels's early influencers. From there, while reading more about 19th-century British thought, I learned about Ruskin and his thoughts that I deeply resonated with. I wanted to continue his legacy by becoming a companion, and on top of that, the fact that I could pursue my interests in both philosophy and philanthropy by joining the Guild fascinated me.
